Hold out for the right one

0
As far as the relationship goes… you don’t realize how bad all of your other relationships have been until you’ve been with someone who treats you well. When you find yourself thinking that thought about the person you are with, you know you’re with the right person. Obviously that’s over-simplifying things a bit – after all, there has to be a right person, a right time, a right place, etc. But, that’s one of the big things that let me know I was on the right track.

As far as the wedding goes… you might want to consider eloping and sending out announcements later. It’s less expensive and you won’t have to deal with the “too many cooks in the kitchen” scenario that turns all women into bridezilla by the end. If you don’t think your friends/family/future in-laws will interfere too much, and you do have an extra $25,000 lying around, then by all means, have a regular wedding. For us, I wish we’d slipped away to Vegas, lived like king and queen for 1/4 the cost of our actual wedding, and apologized later. Not that our wedding wasn’t wonderful – it always is so wonderful, I’d go through it a million times for him – but in retrospect, leading up to the wedding was torture.
